War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)

War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) (84) Between Dawn and War, some of the best ideas of Paul Dehn’s treatment for Battle of the Planet of the Apes are finally brought to the screen. While War is certainly better than Battle, and arguably as good as any of the original set of sequels, it owns its fair share of shortcomings. Certain moments overstretch suspension of disbelief, and I’m talking about ordinary plot points (not the established premise of talking apes). The soundtrack is also terribly inconsistent, distracting from otherwise-excellent cinematic moments.
